How to update the firmware of Nokia 5800 to v21

It is good news that firmware update for Nokia 5800 was released already. New firmware v.21 is available. If you also own a 5800, just follow the simple instruction to update your v20 or v10 to the newest v21.

Make sure that your battery is full (VERY IMPORTANT)

1. Go to Dial screen and press *#0000#

2. Press Options -> Check for updates

3. Connect to the Internet with any APN (WiFi is recommended, however EDGE is fast enough for this). 4. Wait until the download finished. Phone will launch the dialog asking for update, just press Now. 5. Press Accept and Accept and the phone will be switched to Updating mode.

6. It takes around 10 minutes to update, so be patient. After that, the phone will be rebooted automatically.

7. Check by *#0000# again. Congrats! Your 5800 is now v21!

As I can see, there are so many improvements and worth to update for example, better camera functionality and the phone operates faster than previous version.

Best Settings for Video Playback on Nokia 5800 Xpress Music

Nokia 5800 as the multimedia phones makes you able to enjoy watching the video and music with it. The question is, how’s to do to convert that videos and what are the best setting used for. I have convert many videos into my phone, I found that most video files can play with this phone such as mp4, 3gp, rmvb and flv files. But of them plays well but some are not. After many tries, I finally got the best results for Nokia video files. My video in 5800 was full screen, high quality and sounds very well. Here are my settings:

Video Resolution: 480*320

Video Bitrate: 768 kbps

Audio Bitrate: 128 kbps

Video Format: MPEG-4 (be sure not to use H264, as it’s not supported in the current firmware)

Audio Format: MP3

Audio Channels: 2 Channels

You can apply these settings above in whatever application you used when converting videos into 5800. Then I am sure you will get full screen, high quality and flawless video in your phone.

Settings for video playback on Nokia N97, N95, N85 and other Nokia phones.

Nokia N97: Video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash Video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4; the video resolution is 360*640. Audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.

Nokia N96: video playback formats are 3GP, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, RealVideo, WMV 9; the video resolution is 240*320. Audio formats are AAC, MP3, WAV, WMA etc.

Nokia N95: video playback formats are MP4, 3GP. Video resolution is up to 640*480, audio format is AAC stereo.

Nokia N85: video playback formats are 3GP formats, Flash video, H.264/AVC, MPEG-4, and WMV. The resolution is 240*320. The audio formats are AAC, M4A, MP3, WAV and WMA etc.

OK, I will not list all settings of Nokia phones. If you are interested you may get more relative information on Nokia official website.

How to transfer video files into Nokia 5800

I have download some videos from video website such as Youtube, Google video. But I can’t watch these videos in my phone. As these videos were flv files, Nokia 5800 can’t play such videos. I use Internet Tablet Video Converter to convert it, but it shows “Unsupported Video File Type”. Then I got to know Daniusoft Video file Converter that seems professional for Nokia phone, I free download its trial version and tried it, and it works very well. Below are what I do:

Click Add button to add video files from your computer, set your videos according to the above settings and select Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 format for your video. Then just click convert button to start the conversion. After the conversion complete, you may watch these videos with Nokia 5800.

Also you may get music from video in this way. But pay attention to the format. As Nokia 5800 support mp3 audio format, you should select “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)”.

How to convert DVD files into Nokia 5800

Obviously phones don’t have DVD drives, so to watch DVD on a phone you have to convert it into a video file on your PC then drag it into your phone. I also follow the above settings and convert DVD files into MPEG-4 video with Daniusoft DVD Ripper software. the results are excellent.

After insert your DVD into the DVD Drive click the Open DVD button to upload DVD files on to this program. Click Settings button to set your videos according to the above settings I listed. Click Profile drop list to select “Nokia 5800 Video MPEG-4 (*.mp4)” format for your Nokia video. Then click Convert button to start the conversion. In few minutes the whole process will completed.

If you select audio format “MP3 – MPEG Layer-3 Audio (*.mp3)” you may also get music from DVD.

To transfer files into Nokia 5800

In the above tutorial I have explain you how to convert Nokia videos from DVD and other video files. Then you need to transfer these videos into your phone.

1. Make sure your computer and phone are both switched on. Also make sure your 5800 have a memory card in its slot.

2. Plug the small end of the microUSB cable into the phone’s USB socket, which s under a plastic flap in the top left corner.

3. Plug the larger end of the microUSB cable into a USB port on your computer.

4. On your 5800 it should ask which mode you wish to use. Choose “Mass Storage”.

5. Open the memory card window (probably called “Removable Disk E:”), drag your video files into the video folder.

6. After finished transfer files, do not disconnect the cable yet. You should make it safe to disconnect the cable. You may do this by click a small icon in the bottom right corner of the screen that appears when the phone is connected.

7. After you have made the device safe to remove, you can unplug the cable at both ends.

Sometimes you may have to stop talking with your friend or watching videos with your phone as low power of your battery. It is more inconvenient if you are in travel and have no alternative battery. Here are some tips to make your phone battery last as long as possible when using telephone.

Do not switch the phone off. As switching a phone on uses far more battery power than simply leaving the phone on.

Shut down unnecessary applications.

Turn down the 5800’s screen brightness to the lowest acceptable level.

Switch off your 5800’s screen when not in use.

Use headphones instead of speakers when listening to music or watching movies.

Avoid using the camera flash unnecessarily.

Use 2G instead of 3G.

Switch off Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi.’

Le Xperia Z représente les premières étapes du plan de Sony de se concentrer sur mobile, les jeux et les appareils d'imagerie. Alors qu'il aborde tous ces domaines, il marque également une nouvelle direction dans les smartphones Sony par l'introduction d'un nouveau langage de conception qui utilise des angles vifs, les surfaces brillantes et matériaux haut de gamme.

Il est aussi le premier smartphone résolution 1080p de l'entreprise et le premier bénéficiant d'un écran de cinq pouces. Les nouvelles avancées technologiques comprennent également de nouveaux Bravia Engine mobile de l'entreprise 2, un appareil photo 13 mégapixels (avec le capteur capable RS Exmor vidéo HDR) et un processeur Snapdragon cadencé à 1,5 GHz Pro quad-core S4.

En plus de cela, le combiné possède un boîtier résistant à l'eau et à la poussière pour protéger tous les appareils électroniques haut de gamme.

Conception

Le Xperia Z se sent solide avec très peu de pièces en plastique et ceux qui sont présents sont de haute qualité. Il est certainement un beau téléphone, facilement plus beau téléphone intelligent Sony jamais, même si des compromis ont été faits pour obtenir ces bons regards minces. L'absence d'un panneau de batterie amovible limite la capacité d'effectuer une batterie de rechange et le rend plus difficile à remplacer à défaut batteries, mais ne permet aux composants d'être serrés ensemble afin d'atteindre l'7.9mm impressionnante mince (0,31 pouce) de châssis épais qui ne pèse que 145g (ou 5,16 onces).

Le boîtier arrière revêtu de verre apporte le Sony pour atteindre les niveaux de qualité atteints par le nouveau HTC One et l'iPhone d'Apple 5, bien que de donner le combiné un élément unique Sony a étendu ces panneaux de verre sur les côtés. Le panneau arrière et l'écran avant sont en verre incassable (mais pas Corning Gorilla Glass), tandis que d'un châssis en polyamide fibre de verre avec des coins légèrement arrondis relie les panneaux de verre ensemble.

Globalement, le Sony se présente comme un smartphone haut de gamme, seulement amélioré en termes de qualité et se sentir par le HTC One fabuleux. À notre avis le Xperia est un appareil mieux que l'iPhone 5 et beaucoup mieux que smartphone haut de Samsung, le Galaxy S4 qui vient trop plastique sentiment moyen de faire appel à ceux qui recherchent une sensation de qualité à leur nouveau téléphone.

Même si c'est un dispositif en regardant bien, le boîtier de lager dictée par cet énorme écran de 5 pouces et lunette associé signifie que ce n'est pas très confortable à tenir, sauf si vous arrive d'avoir des mains gigantesques et atteindre le bord supérieur du téléphone est un peu exagéré lors de l'utilisation d'une seule main. Les coins de 90 degrés pointus entravent également la convivialité un peu.

Il est à noter que le plan Sony d'introduire une version légèrement plus petite, surnommé le Xperia ZR, pour ceux qui se sentent le Z pleine taille est un peu trop grand.

Autres caractéristiques de conception dignes de mention sont les (malheureusement) petit haut-parleur qui n'offre pas vraiment d'autre que la qualité sonore acceptable tout, avec le HTC One et son front face parleurs stéréo encore bien en tête du peloton des smartphones quand il s'agit de performances sonores.

Montée à l'arrière 13MP objectif de la caméra est légèrement en retrait, ce qui lui une belle touche qui aidera à empêcher de rayer tout l'appareil photo 2MP face à l'avant se trouve juste au-dessus de l'écran. Outre le microphone il n'y a rien en dessous de l'écran, comme le Xperia Z emploie boutons à l'écran plutôt que des touches physiques.

Le combiné sera disponible en noir ou en blanc, avec une édition pourpre bientôt à rejoindre le line up.

Écran HD 1080p de 5 pouces

Alors que plusieurs fabricants ont annoncé combinés avec 5 pouces, écrans 1080p, le Xperia Z est l'un des premiers à être mis à disposition. Merci pour la mise à niveau vers un écran de résolution de 1080p, le Xperia Z offre une densité d'écran plus élevée que son prédécesseur, le Xperia T (à 443 pixels par pouce). Et ce, malgré l'augmentation de la taille de l'écran de 4,6 à 5 pouces. L'écran est vraiment impressionnant, et rivalise presque avec tout ce que nous avons vu à ce jour en termes de netteté et la richesse.

Nous disons presque rivaux, car l'écran du smartphone de Super LCD 3 de la HTC One offre de meilleurs angles de vision et de ses performances tout en étant un peu plus nettes grâce à son écran de 4,7 pouces légèrement plus petit. Sony affirme que le nouvel écran OptiContrast devrait réduire la réflexion et faire mieux à lire en plein soleil. Malgré cela, certaines conditions d'éclairage, il est difficile de lire l'écran à un moment où d'autres smartphones auraient probablement affiché un rendement beaucoup mieux.

Contraste semblait également être un peu inférieure à ses rivaux smartphones comme le Galaxy S4, avec des noirs devenant légèrement gris lorsque vous utilisez les réglages de luminosité plus élevés qui sont parfois nécessaires en raison des problèmes ci-dessus.

Sony Xperia Z résumé

L'équipe de recherche et développement de Sony ont évidemment travaillé dur sur ce nouveau modèle. La spécification technique représente une énorme amélioration sur les modèles précédents et apporte à un niveau égal à ses trois rivaux de smartphone - l'iPhone 5S, HTC One et Samsung Galaxy S4. Les matériaux de haute qualité utilisés dans sa construction permet également de correspondre à la deux de ses rivaux premier et a facilement battu le Galaxy S4.
